Gavida Congratulates Dame Alison Paterson
The chair of Gravida: National Centre for Growth and Development chair, Alison Paterson CNZM, QSO have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List. She has been made a Dame of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business.
"On behalf of Gravida, I am delighted to congratulate Dame Alison. It is an absolute pleasure to work with Alison, in her capacity as chair of Gravida. Her commitment, enthusiasm and expertise is invaluable to the organisation,” said Gravida director Professor Phil Baker.
Dame Paterson joined the Board of Governance at Gravida’s inception in 2003 and has been the chair since that time. Her background is in corporate governance and leadership in the service and health industries. She has served as a director on numerous public sector and private organisation boards, including the Board of the Reserve Bank, the Wrightson Board, Chair of the Board of Landcorp Farming Ltd, Chair of the Electricity Complaints Commission and Chair of Waitemata District Health Board. Alison is also a Board member Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga, another Centre of Research Excellence and a Councillor of Massey University.
Gravida is a government-funded Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE ) that connects leading biomedical, clinical and animal scientists throughout New Zealand and globally. Gravida-funded researchers focus on how conditions encountered in early life affect the health and the way an individual grows and develops.
Gravida promotes the use of this research in the
clinical, public policy and education sectors to benefit the
economic and social wellbeing of all New
Zealanders.
