Rowing Gold for BNZ
Olympic rowing champion Nathan Cohen will be trading his paddle for a suit when he steps down from competitive rowing to take up a position at BNZ as a Senior Associate.
As a Senior Associate, Nathan will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with business clients who want to grow and succeed, a bit of a change from pre-dawn starts on the water.
“After making some great memories in rowing for 14 years, I felt the time was right to seek fresh challenges,” says Cohen. “Numbers have always been my thing so banking was the logical next step and, I also enjoying getting to know and mixing with people so my new role is actually perfect.”
Mike Frew, BNZ Managing Partner Waikato says, “Nathan brings to BNZ a wonderful work ethic honed by competing at an elite level for so many years. He has spent a lot of time working alongside our Commercial team in Cambridge to get some insights into commercial banking during down times in his training schedule and we're all looking forward to getting him onboard so he can start to excel in a new field."
Nathan will be based in the Waikato region where he did the majority of his rowing. He has a BMS degree majoring in Accountancy and Economics and was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2013 New Year Honours, for his services to rowing.
