New Sport Versions of Suzuki Kizashi Make New Zealand Debut

A pair of two-wheel-drive versions of the Suzuki Kizashi Sport has been added to the New Zealand lineup of the brand’s largest passenger car model.

Until now the uprated Sport version of the four-door 2.4-litre Kizashi has only been available in four-wheel-drive, so the arrival of a GLX Sport and a LTD Sport provides a new dimension to the range.

Buyers who like the styling package of the Sport but do not need the added qualities of four-wheel-drive now have a cost-effective choice in the new Kizashi GLX Sport.

Despite the addition of features valued at over $5,500, the front-driven GLX Sport with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is only $2,000 more expensive than the Kizashi GLX CVT. The well-equipped new Kizashi Sport model is priced at a highly competitive $39,990.

Added features to the GLX Sport include a sports front bumper with chrome accents and woven-look lower grille, front fog lamps, sport side skirt with lower door chrome accent and a rear boot lid spoiler. The car also has as standard 18 inch diameter Sport aluminium alloy wheels with 235/45R 18 tyres, a Garmin GPS unit with Bluetooth capability and a camera for safety when reversing.

“With the Kizashi GLX Sport’s good looks and added features we know that this will strike an enticing note with prospective customers,” said Gary Collins, GM of Automobile Marketing for Suzuki New Zealand Ltd.

For a further specification upgrade, the $44,990 Kizashi LTD Sport CVT adds a power glass sunroof with tilt function and one-touch control, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with auto levelling, automatic light sensing headlamps with washers, leather interior and heated front Sports seats.

Dual zone automatic climate control air conditioning is standard on all Kizashis and the LTD also has paddle shifters for the transmission, heated door mirrors, ten-way power driver’s seat with three-position memory and parking sensors front and rear.

All the Kizashi Sport models are only available with the CVT automatic transmission, and the four-wheel-drive iAWD Sport CVT, which has a recommended retail price of $48,500, continues as the flagship model in the Kizashi range.

Suzuki benchmarked BMW and Audi models during the five year development of the Kizashi, integrating a strong driving experience combining design elegance with smoothness and quietness. There was an evolution of the European-tuned handling offered by the highly successful Suzuki Swift and the end result was a production car that exceeded all expectations.

With its bold centre console, premium grade controls and well shaped seats, the refined interior offers an up-market feel, and even the $35,990 entry-level Kizashi GLX with six-speed manual transmission is comprehensively equipped to meet demanding market requirements.

All Kizashi models are powered by a twin overhead camshaft, variable valve, 2.4L fuel-injected engine developing 131 kW of power and 230 Nm of torque.
