New appointments at Sovereign
Sovereign has made several new executive appointments to support a company focus toward bringing industry-leading products and innovations to New Zealand customers.
Joyce Au-Yeung has been appointed Chief Officer Health. A qualified actuary and lawyer, Joyce came to Sovereign from Australia Post, where she was most recently a mergers and acquisitions strategy executive. In her role, Joyce will explore opportunities to grow Sovereign’s health business and ways Sovereign can support the health and wellbeing of New Zealand communities.
Chris Lamers has been appointed Chief Officer Brand, Innovation & Marketing. Chris was previously Interim CEO at Loyalty NZ (Fly Buys) where he also held roles as Head of Customer Engagement and Head of Marketing and Product Development. Chris will head the newly created function of Brand, Innovation & Marketing, which will drive Sovereign’s innovation approach to leverage marketing and brand opportunities to increase brand awareness and digital initiatives.
Rebecca Russell has been appointed Chief Officer Inforce Management for Sovereign, where she has worked in a number of roles across the business, most recently as General Manager Strategy. Rebecca will ensure that all business currently inforce is effectively managed, optimised and retained, and that all claims are effectively handled with a view to driving a superior claims experience for customers. Rebecca is also responsible for customer experience and Sovereign’s product management.
Ross Stephenson is Sovereign’s new Chief Information Officer. Ross has extensive experience with IT and project delivery across a wide range of financial services companies. He was most recently programme director for Hewlett Packard. Ross will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives at Sovereign and direct the planning and implementation of the company’s IT systems to support the business operations.
Eriza San Miguel is appointed Chief Officer New Business. Eriza joins Sovereign from CBA where she was Head of Business Productivity Improvement Enterprise Services.
Eriza has over 15 years experience in the financial services industry with nearly 11 years motivating and managing teams to implement transformational growth initiatives. Leading the new business team, Eriza will ensure that all new business applications are assessed, appropriately underwritten and supported to drive new business growth.
