Marianne Delaney Commits to Haier Pulse for 2014

Haier Pulse assistant coach Marianne Delaney has committed to continue her successful partnership with Robyn Broughton for a third year, following an unprecedented run of results during their first two seasons at the helm.

A successful coach in her own right, Delaney retained the Trans-Tasman trophy in an unbeaten season as New Zealand secondary schools Head Coach, she was Head Coach of the Wellington NPC team which performed above their weight at the recent NPC competition in Dunedin and is part of the Netball New Zealand High Performance Accelerator Programme.

The smell of success has kept her with the Haier Pulse for another year. “We have been building each year, so we would like to see this continue. This is a fantastic group of athletes and it will be good to see the quality of netball we can produce,” she explained.

“It is great to work with someone with Rob’s level of experience – she has a great sense of humour and is a lot of fun to be around. I also appreciate her continued involvement with the grassroots: this is important for the development and evolution of our game.”

Delaney also paid tribute to manager Jo Holmes, who will also be continuing for a third year. “Our manager, Jo Holmes, is a legend. She is one of the key people in our team and is always one step ahead. We are very lucky to have Jo.”

Netball Central Zone and Haier Pulse CEO, Carolyn Young, was delighted that the successful coaching partnership will continue into 2014. “Retaining Marianne was very important for us and you only have to look at the results from the last two seasons to see why. She and Robyn bring different qualities and have shown that they complement each other extremely well.

“Marianne has been highly successful with the other representative teams she coaches and we look forward to seeing her develop further as a coach with the Haier Pulse over the coming season.”
