Holiday parks confident ahead of peak season
Business confidence among holiday park owners is relatively high in the run-up to the peak Christmas-New Year season, according to the latest Holiday Parks Business Confidence Monitor.
Confidence levels in the Holiday Parks Business Confidence Monitor for October/November are at +69, indicating that 69% more respondents are currently optimistic than pessimistic. This is the second highest level of confidence recorded since the Monitor began, albeit a slight decrease from the +73 reported in September/October.
The Holiday Parks Business Confidence Monitor, developed and managed by Angus & Associates*, surveys the Holiday Parks Association New Zealand’s (HAPNZ) 300 members.
“Within the October/November result, we noted a positive shift in confidence from members being ‘somewhat optimistic’ to ‘optimistic’, with 50% ‘optimistic’ compared with 36% in September/October,” HAPNZ Chief Executive Fergus Brown says.
“With measures of demand for the current month and the coming month both up on September/October, confidence is likely to remain relatively high into the Christmas holiday period.”
46% of respondents felt that demand this month had increased, compared to the same month last year, and 43% expected demand to increase in the coming month.
“The appeal of your region is believed by members to have had the biggest influence on both increased and decreased demand this month, suggesting there are regional differences which we can examine further in the New Year once we have 12 months of data,” Mr Brown says.
