Getting to Zero – Calls for Affordable Sexual Health Products
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOWER HUTT - 29 November 2013, 4:30pm
Leading Australian condom manufacturer GLYDE Health officially announced today the appointment of its New Zealand distributor for their entire range of sexual health products; based in Lower Hutt GLYDE Healthcare NZ has a strong focus on top quality affordable and accessible sexual health products.
As the Australian Ministry of Health’s leading condom supplier for almost two decades, GLYDE is instrumental in advancing HIV/AIDS and reproductive health education and advocacy. GLYDE also maintains longstanding partnerships with a variety of worldwide public health workers, non-profit organizations, NGO’s and community resources that enhance the lives of individuals, including those with disabilities.
Through GLYDE’s Red Ribbon campaign, GLYDE have distributed millions of free condoms to sex workers throughout Southeast Asia, in conjunction with safe sex education and HIV/AIDS prevention resources. The program also functions as a fund-raising vehicle in which non-profits and NGO’s are equipped with Red Ribbon condoms which they can sell to fund their programs.
In the lead up to World AIDS Day this Sunday, GLYDE Healthcare NZ have announced its commitment to join the global fight against HIV/AIDS and will be offering the company’s trademark Red Ribbon Condom to any NZ organisation wanting to assist in future appeals.
Dane McIndoe – Managing Director, GLYDE Healthcare NZ says today marks the beginning of a long journey for his company but pales in comparison to those living with HIV.
“We have already been out there engaging with organisations debunking a few myths about affordability and pledging to support campaigns and national schemes to raise awareness.”
“We are promoting the use of condoms and oral dams as a proven, preventative measure for safe sex- for everyone, including the LGBT community. We also recognise and support the hard work that some of these organisations have done alone for so long, such as Positive Women Inc. with an ongoing 3 year battle to have the Female Condom approved and subsidised in NZ through ‘The Paper Doll Campaign’.”
“There is no excuse for unprotected sex these days especially when you consider our entire range of products are fair trade, free from animal cruelty, environmentally friendly, vegan friendly and ph balanced, not to mention our latex free options.”
“Getting to zero has never been more achievable!”
Donations to support World Aids day can be made directly on the company’s online store www.glydesupplies.co.nz
