Leaders of the Largest Global ICT project to meet in Auckland
The Multicore World Conference, an initiative of Oamaru based technology company Open Parallel Ltd, will for the first
time include a collocated workshop and associated meetings for senior members of the Square Kilometre Array
radio-telescope (SKA) development project. Estimated to cost around $NZ 4 billion, the development of the World's
largest and most sensitive radio telescope will involve the close collaboration of a number of countries, including New
Zealand, if the planned completion date of 2023 is to be realised.
Multicore World is a consolidated event in the global high-technology calendar that every year brings to New Zealand
leading technologists from around the World to discuss the state-of-the-art in multicore technology designs, parallel
computing and related trends across all industries. Held in February and this year located at the new 350 seat
conference facility at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), the conference is supported by an impressive list of
speakers from five continents.
Covering such areas as Big Data, cloud and mobile computing and the applications of multicore technologies, the primary
goal of the conference is “to create awareness of the technologies employed and their potential applications for New
Zealand industry and business”, stated Nicolás Erdödy, Conference Director and founder of Open Parallel Limited.
The conference and workshops will be held between February 25th till 28th, 2014 and Early bird tickets are available
