2014 Land Cruiser Prado a Kiwi lifestyle favourite

MEDIA RELEASE

19 November 2013

2014 Land Cruiser Prado a Kiwi lifestyle favourite

From boardroom, to boat and out to the back country, the new 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is perfect for the Kiwi lifestyle.

The new model extends the high-end refinement, unrivalled safety and exceptional power that Prado owners have come to expect from the seven-seater SUV series, with a suite of features to enrich the driving experience for both driver and passengers.

Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Sales and Operations Steve Prangnell says the new line-up demonstrates a strong understanding of what Prado owners are looking for in a lifestyle vehicle.

“New Zealanders typically lead diverse lifestyles – we’re hard working and we’re active – and the 2014 Prado provides an offering to match,” says Mr Prangnell.

“Driving a Prado means a premium experience for business use, a spacious and safe drive for the family and enough grunt to tow the boat or head off the beaten path during the weekend. It is the perfect vehicle for the type of lifestyle Kiwis enjoy and others aspire to.”

Toyota’s attention to the Prado owner’s journey is what sets the 2014 model apart.

Families will appreciate the in-built cooler box, standard in Prado VX Limited, which keeps drinks or snacks cold on the long summer road trip, while Three Zone Climate Control standard across the line-up means all passengers can be comfortable at their own temperature.

In the back, a new walk-in mechanism gives passengers easy access to third row seats without having to tumble the second row, removing the hassle of loading and unloading at school pick-ups. When not in use, the third row can be easily stowed from inside the vehicle or from the back door, allowing the second row seats to slide back for added legroom.

Rear seat passengers have not been forgotten with a number of luxurious refinements, including heated seats and separate air conditioning controls in Prado VX and VX Limited and – for VX Limited passengers – a rear seat entertainment system to make the miles melt away on any long trip.

Practicality features in all aspects of the 2014 Prado range. As well as 12V accessory power adapters available in both the front and rear of the vehicle, the new Prado includes a handy 220V three point power source.

The 14 speaker JBL Premium Audio and Navigation system comes standard in the top of the line Prado VX Limited and optional in VX 4WD 3.0-litre turbo diesel and VX 4WD 4.0-litre petrol V6 models. With SUNA Live Traffic Management GPS updates for real time traffic updates and time-saving alternative routes, Prado owners need never be stuck in traffic again.

For adventurers and weekend warriors alike, all new Prado models come kitted out with features to make the trip off the beaten path an easy and enjoyable one.

For those towing the boat or horse trailer, Trailer Sway Control is standard across the range, helping the driver retain control if the system senses a dangerous situation is occurring when towing.

All Prado models feature Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control, Hill-start Assist Control and Downhill Assist Control as standard to ensure the drive is a safe one regardless of the terrain.

And when the terrain does get a little rocky, Multi Terrain Select (MTS) in the VX Limited boosts its off-road credentials, allowing the driver to optimise the Prado for a range of different terrains, while providing a view of the surface on all sides of the car thanks to a four camera system. Privacy glass and roof rails also come as standard in all Prado models for the first time.

Prado’s continued popularity as one of New Zealand’s favourite large SUVs is evidenced by strong sales since its introduction in this market in 1990 due, Mr Prangnell says, to its diverse appeal.

“Prado offers something for all drivers, and the 2014 model extends on that offering as one of our most diverse vehicles to date. We’re immensely proud of Prado’s proven heritage in this country and believe the new range will continue New Zealand’s long standing relationship with Prado.”

The 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado range is in showrooms now with recommended selling prices starting at $84,195.
