Oamaru Local In Announced As Retailer of the Year Award

Last Night, NZ’s longest running trade publication Wares Magazine, who celebrates its 21st year in publication held its annual Wares Awards; celebrating the everyday heroes in the appliance industry.

Dunedin local; Chris Templeton - a member of Noel Leeming Dunedin was awarded as the Young Retailer Of The Year.

Oamaru local; Brett Latimer; a member of the Smiths City Oamaru store was awarded as the Retailer Of the Year.

Leading his 19-person team, Brett knows that creating a successful store isn’t just about making sales and that simply taking orders isn’t a long term strategy for success. Success has instead come through changing the store’s product mix and layout to match the market, continuing to emphasise the store’s delivery and full installation offering and supporting his team of high calibre, knowledgeable salespeople.

His exceptional service and outstanding leadership skills have secured him the top prize; a travel grant to visit an international trade show and a study grant for an Auckland University Business School’s Short Course programme of their choice.

Other big winners on the night were Electrolux Small Appliances winning best floor care, and Panasonic winning both best home entertainment and digital imaging categories.
