Changes at the top for Tourism Radio
Auckland, 14 November 2013 - Tourism Radio New Zealand (http://www.tourismradio.co.nz/) Managing Director, Hayden Braddock, has officially taken over as the group Chief Executive. This follows the stepping down of South African-based Mark Allewell from the position on the 1st of November, 2013.
Braddock, who will remain based in New Zealand, says, “Mark founded the company in 2005, and he’s looking to spend some real quality time with his new family over the course of next year. Although he will be leaving Tourism Radio from a day to day operational capacity, he will continue to hold a prominent position on the company’s advisory board, and we will have access to his wealth of knowledge on a daily basis.”
Under Braddock’s leadership, Tourism Radio New Zealand has maintained a year-on-year growth of more than 30%, and he says the company’s mission is to now mimic that success abroad, “We’ve become a recognised tourism brand in New Zealand thanks to the strong partnerships we’ve forged with the major car hire and motorhome providers across the country, including Tourism Holdings Limited (http://www.thlonline.com/), which is New Zealand’s premier tourism company. There has been a lot of interest out of Australia and North America for our technology, and we’re looking to take full advantage of this.” Braddock will continue in his position as Managing Director of New Zealand operations, but also now oversee South Africa and Spain.
Over the last eight -years, the Tourism Radio group has achieved a number a successes, including partnerships with a number of Destination Marketing Organisations like South Africa Tourism, and with corporate clients like Land Rover and Diners Club. Tourism Radio is now also available in select Renault models in Europe, providing an audio travel guide to cities across the continent via the in-car Renault R-Link multimedia system.
More recently, Tourism Radio New Zealand launched a range of location-aware audio travel guides for iPhone and Android mobile devices. Braddock says Tourism Radio will continue to innovate, “We’ve been at the forefront of location-aware mobile audio travel guides since we launched into the app markets in 2012. We’re actively looking at other development platforms including Google Glass and Windows Phone.”
