Hawaiian Airlines to help NZ Breast Cancer Foundation

31 October, 2013

Hawaiian Airlines partners with ‘Starboard Paddle for Hope’ for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation

Hawaiian Airlines is delighted to be a partner of the third annual Starboard Paddle for Hope event this Saturday November 2, at Auckland Karanga Plaza, opposite the Viaduct Events Centre. The Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) fundraiser for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation is one of the most popular charity events of the year with an estimated 100 teams taking part in the fundraiser.

The Fundraiser is hoping to raise $100,000 for a clinically endorsed SUP rehab programme for people that are recovering from Breast Cancer surgery. To enter a team or to donate to this great cause visit www.paddleforhope.co.nz.

Hawaiian Airlines is the perfect partner for this event, as the islands of Hawai’i offer some of the best and most beautiful locations in the world to practice the sport. One of these locations is Ala Moana Beach Park, opposite the famous Waikiki Beach, which was recently voted the best Hawaiian beach to Stand-up Paddleboard by Hawaiian Airlines staff.

Every person that enters a team or donates $25 or more to the charity is automatically entered in a draw for a trip for two to Hawai’i, complements of Hawaiian Airlines. The prize includes flights, four nights’ accommodation, tickets to the finals of the Waterman League Stand-up Paddling event and a personal SUP session at the birthplace of modern Stand-up Paddleboarding with the Starboard International Dream Team Riders.

The event kicks off at 11am with a ‘Have-a- go at Stand-up Paddling’ session, which is the ideal time for all those keen to try the sport ahead of the summer months. This will be followed by SUP Yoga before the big relay race around the Western Viaduct Basin. Marvel Grill at North Wharf will host live entertainment, a charity auction and prize giving following the competition.

To experience Hawaiian Stand-up Paddling for yourself, Hawaiian Airlines flies three times a week from Auckland to Honolulu and offers convenient connections to Hawai’i’s neighbour island and onwards to 11 mainland USA destinations.
