10 years of Project Twin Streams at Westfield WestCity

Diary Note 14 October 2013

Celebrate 10 years of Project Twin Streams at Westfield WestCity

Project Twin Streams are celebrating their 10th anniversary in sustainable style, with an action packed line up of community events planned at Westfield WestCity this week.

Project Twin Stream’s Community & Environment Manager, ‘Green’ Jon Morgan, is encouraging locals to head along to the community planting day outside WestCity to plant natives while enjoying free entertainment by the river.

“We’re really excited to celebrate 10 years of this great project and would love to see everyone head down to WestCity to help plant native trees and learn more about their local stream and environment,” ‘Green’ Jon says.

Crafty kids can also make the most of their visit to Westfield WestCity this week at the Project Twin Streams Free Kids Workshops. As a community organisation that has built a following for their sustainability, community gardens and stream restoration, Project Twin Streams is helping kids to think about the environment through weaving their own flax flowers and learning about the animal pests in New Zealand.

Project Twins Streams have organized 51 community planting days with over 515,216 native trees planted by the West Auckland community to date.
