Employers applaud proposed migrant exploitation law
Employers are very happy to see the introduction of the new law proposing to crack down on the exploitation of migrant workers.
"The new law is very timely," said David Lowe, Manager of Employment Services for the Employers and Manufacturers Association.
"Employers who exploit migrant workers unfairly undercut our law abiding businesses," Mr Lowe said.
"Employers had advised us of their concerns about some businesses who were exploiting migrant workers and paying way below the minimum wage.
"The new bill will deter them, thereby protecting good employers.
"The stiff fines and other penalties proposed are entirely appropriate."
