Cloudy Bay 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Released Worldwide Today
The 2013 vintage of Cloudy Bay’s international benchmark wine is now available to fine wine lovers worldwide from today
Tuesday October 1st. An outstanding summer with excellent growing conditions has enabled Cloudy Bay winemakers to craft
New Zealand’s most precious summer flavours into their Sauvignon Blanc 2013 vintage.
Widely regarded as the quintessential expression of the acclaimed Marlborough wine region - which enjoys the longest
hours of sunshine of any place in New Zealand, Cloudy Bay’s Sauvignon Blanc is noted for its vibrant aromatics, layers
of pure fruit flavours and fine structure.
“Zesty lime and grapefruit aromas are the first to emerge from the nose of our 2013 sauvignon blanc followed by
nectarine and lemongrass tones,” says Cloudy Bay winemaker Nick Lane. “The palate is fresh and focused with ripe citrus,
stonefruit and mineral notes.”
Top chef Mark Southon was invited by Cloudy Bay to capture the essence of this First of the Season vintage in a dish
created on a single spoon. The challenge for Mark Southon was to create a dish matched to the sauvignon blanc without
having tasted it, basing his creation only on the tasting notes. The result was poached South Island scampi with pear,
vanilla and citrus oil - a huge success among Cloudy Bay winemakers and friends who tasted the pairing last night.
“We were amazed with how perfectly Mark’s resulting dish brought out the notes in the 2013 vintage – especially as he
hadn’t yet sampled the wine himself. It was an illustration of fine talent from both him and our wine makers who
communicated the notes perfectly for this year’s Sauvignon Blanc,” says Rai Banbury, Cloudy Bay senior brand manger.
Select restaurants nationwide will be taking part in a Cloudy Bay First of the Season 2013 Sauvignon Blanc event,
offering a glass of the new vintage with a First of the Season food pairing for the public to enjoy from mid October
onwards. Restaurant details will be revealed soon.

October, rrp nzd $38.99.
