Bruce Pilbrow resigns as CEO of The Parenting Place

Bruce Pilbrow today announced he will be concluding as CEO of The Parenting Place at the beginning of 2014.

"After much contemplation and discussion with my wife Amanda, I believe it is time to move on to the next phase of my life. It has been a hard decision, because I love what The Parenting Place does and I also love the team. I still see so much potential in The Parenting Place, but the timing feels right to hand it over to a new person.

"These last eight years as CEO have been an exciting journey. I believe the organisation is in great shape and ready to go the next level. I am working with the Board to find a successor and, ideally, we would like to have a new CEO appointed prior to Christmas, ready to lead The Parenting Place into the New Year. My goal is to facilitate a smooth, orderly handover.

"At the moment, I am not sure what the future holds for me, career-wise, but I do have few ideas I am thinking about. I would like to hope there is another gig out there for me! In the meantime, though, there is still plenty of work to be done leading an organisation I am immensely proud of.

"It has been a real privilege to be part of something that does so much good for the families of New Zealand. Not only does The Parenting Place have a great staff, management team and Board, it is also buoyed up by a huge team of supporters, volunteers and donors, and I am so grateful to have worked with such wonderful people. In a very real sense, this organisation has a heart, a heart that loves children and loves families. I intend to stay in touch, but I shall miss very much being part of the day-to-day life of The Parenting Place."

Chairman Sir John Graham says, “The Parenting Place in good heart and is in a strong growth phase thanks to the excellent leadership provided by Bruce Pilbrow over the last eight years. We wish Bruce well for his future and we are confident Bruce’s successor, along with the current leadership team, will continue to build on the excellence of the organisation as well as the strong growth platform it now has."
