Heat Pumps Gain Must-Have Appliance Status
Auckland, 24 September 2013 – Fridge? Check. Washing Machine? Check. Microwave? Check. Heat Pump? Check.  Canstar Blue’s annual survey into customer satisfaction with heat pumps shows that the appliances have become the latest must-have solution to making New Zealand’s notoriously damp and cold homes more liveable.
Nearly a quarter of survey respondents made use of the EECA subsidy to purchase their heat pump. It had made such a difference to the comfort level of their homes that nearly 80% of survey respondents said they would have to have a heat pump in any home they lived in.
A Derek Bonnar, Canstar New Zealand General Manager, says that heat pumps can make a tremendous difference to New Zealand homes as many were damp and poorly insulated.
“A damp home is hard to heat and can also contribute to health problems due to the presence of mould and cold temperatures. Half of our survey respondents said their power bills decreased and 45% said their health improved after a heat pump was installed.”
Brand Winner
The consumer survey found that Mitsubishi Electric heat pumps has the most satisfied customers, taking out the overall satisfaction award with a five star rating.
Mitsubishi Electric was highly rated by its customers in every category and was the only brand to receive a top score for quietness while operating, says Bonnar.
