ASB Leading the Way In Establishing Corporate Gender Equality
ASB has been recognised as the supreme winner at the inaugural Women’s Empowerment Principles White Camellia Awards ceremony held at Parliament last night.
ASB was also recognised for progressing the first Women’s Empowerment Principle on establishing high level corporate leadership for gender equality.
The awards, which were announced on the 120th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage Day, honour those organisations committed to increasing gender equality who have signed up to the United Nation’s Women’s Empowerment Principles. ASB is one of more than 30 New Zealand organisations that have committed to upholding the Principles which outline empowerment of women in the workplace, marketplace and the community
“In 2009, ASB formally committed to building greater diversity by establishing annual and five year targets to increase the number of women in leadership roles at all levels of the organisation. Last year we revitalised our Diversity and Inclusion strategy. This has led to a focus at ASB on greater diversity in terms of experience, backgrounds and perspectives at all levels of the organisation,” says ASB Chief Executive Officer Barbara Chapman.
“We are enormously proud to have been recognised for our efforts in this area. ASB remains focused on pay equity initiatives, extending leadership development opportunities for our female workforce and reinforcing flexible working options as being both positive and respected.”
The Bank has a long history of supporting gender equality in the workplace having had female representation on its executive leadership team since 1993.
