The Palms’ Speed Employing Event Has a Second Date
Speed dating is so last year. This year it’s all about securing – speedily! – a position of employment.
With the success of last year’s inaugural Speed Employing Event still fresh in the memory, The Palms Shopping Centre has decided to once again provide locals with the opportunity to secure employment at some of the nation’s leading retailers. More than 16 retailers from within the centre, including 2 Degrees, Glassons and Rodney Wayne have positions to fill and vary with full-time, part-time, permanent and casual Christmas roles available.
The event is the perfect opportunity for any employment-seeking Cantabrian, be it a first-time job hunter, those finding it a challenge to find employment, or someone who needs a change of workplace scenery, to see what positions are available and fast!
Simon Carter, centre manager at The Palms says, “Last year we had an overwhelming response to the initiative with more than 240 employment hopefuls attend, and we are gearing up for a bigger and better event this time around. We have some great retailers on board, all hoping to find their next top employee. I’m looking forward to meeting some future The Palms employees at the event.”
The idea for last year’s inaugural event came about after Mr Carter noticed many retailers had signs in their windows looking for staff.
“I was trying to think of a fun way for retailers to fill pre-Christmas positions in their stores and speed job interviews seemed like it would be great. Like a date, in an interview, you often know straight away if someone is the right fit,” says Mr Carter.
The event is open to everyone. To register, hopeful job seekers must register by sending their name and contact details to monique.davidson@ampcapital.com. The Palms will then contact all potential job seekers with further details.
The Speed Employing Event will take place on Wednesday 25 September, between 6pm – 9pm at The Palms food court.
Participating retailers in addition to those mentioned above include Pumpkin Patch, Cheapskates, Coffee Culture, Countdown, Farmers, Jay Jays, Kmart, Life Ppharmacy, Millers, Noel Leeming, Pascoes, Silvermoon and Subway.
