Whittaker’s new Milk Strawberry chocolate to raise funds for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation medical training
Whittaker’s introduces its latest creation, Milk Strawberry, for people who love chocolate and like to support a good
cause. The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation will receive 20 cents from every block of Milk Strawberry chocolate sold
until the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), which will help fund breast cancer medical training.
This builds on the relationship Whittaker’s established with the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation last year with the
launch of its White Raspberry chocolate, which raised over $70,000, nearly three times the amount expected. Based on
that success, Whittaker’s has become a Pink Ribbon Platinum Partner, which means it is committed to donating at least
$75,000 this year.
Whittaker’s Brand Manager, Holly Whittaker says, “We are delighted to continue our involvement with The New Zealand
Breast Cancer Foundation, given their important role in helping New Zealanders beat breast cancer. This year, we are
focusing our support on their scholarship programme and continuous medical education for breast cancer medical
professionals.”
The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation’s scholarship programme is used to provide vital continuous medical training to
professionals in the areas of diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Scholarship funding is allocated to talented
individuals in specialities where New Zealand has skills shortages, such as mammography and radiation therapy. In
addition, training programmes for continuous medical education for breast cancer will be provided to General
Practitioners and Practice Nurses.
Milk Strawberry has a delicious real strawberry fondant filling, encased in Whittaker’s smooth, five rolled refined, 33%
cocoa creamy milk chocolate. Given that the 5 Roll Refined Creamy Milk is Whittaker’s best block seller, and the
strawberry fondant point of difference, it is expected to be popular with chocolate lovers.
Recently voted New Zealand’s Most Trusted Brand[1] for the second year in a row, Ms Whittaker said the company is always
looking for ways to give back to its loyal customers. Creating a unique new product that also supports a good cause is a
meaningful way to do this.
“Almost everybody knows someone that’s been affected by breast cancer, and we think people will like knowing that by
treating themselves, or their loved ones, to some Milk Strawberry chocolate they’ll also be supporting The New Zealand
Breast Cancer Foundation,” said Ms Whittaker.
Whittaker’s Milk Strawberry is available nationwide in 250g blocks, at the same price as the rest of the Whittaker’s
250g range. A special label has been created for Milk Strawberry blocks in support of The New Zealand Breast Cancer
Foundation, which features a picture of a strawberry taken with an MRI scanner.
