Vocus Communications launches Vocus Cloud Connect on Amazon Web Services
Vocus Cloud Connect (VCC) is a service recently introduced by Vocus Communications that provides New Zealand businesses with a secure, dedicated connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Sydney.
VCC enables Australian businesses to take additional control of their AWS applications. Fast and cost-effective connectivity is now a readily available alternative to the public internet, where performance can often be slow, erratic and unpredictable.
Demand for cloud services such as AWS continues to accelerate as more organisations realise the economies, flexibility and scalability provided through the cloud. By default, the need for greater bandwidth, security and minimal latency becomes a priority.
Vocus CEO James Spenceley, explains: “Not all internet is created equal. A slow and poor performing internet connection affects productivity, performance and staff morale, potentially offsetting any financial advantage expected when moving applications to the cloud.”
“With Vocus Cloud Connect, companies are assured their data is travelling quickly, through a protected and private network - with robust SLAs in place - directly into the secure AWS cloud. It’s direct, fast and secure, and carried on our own optical fibre network.”
Like AWS, Vocus Cloud Connect gives businesses the freedom to scale their requirements in line with business needs. Companies can define the network speed they require, ranging from 50Mbit/s up to 10Gbit/s. Customers can choose either a dedicated physical port or a virtual port (VLAN over an existing Ethernet trunk or aggregated connection – available end September - tbc.) Furthermore, customers anticipating data volume spikes can benefit from VCC’s flexible burstable service, allowing customer’s to burst above their committed speed as needed.
VCC complements Vocus’ existing range of core connectivity solutions including:
• Dark Fibre
• Metro/Inter-Capital/International Ethernet
• Internet Transit
• Co-Location
