Clearview blushing over Romeo Bragato win
Clearview Estate Winery’s Black Reef Blush has added Romeo Bragato Wine Awards 2013 Champion Rosé to its list of
accolades.
This ‘purpose-built’ full bodied wine is made from red grapes found at Clearview’s coastal Te Awanga, Hawke’s Bay
vineyards and the rare grape, Chambourcin, a French hybrid that is rarely grown in New Zealand.
In recent years, the Black Reef Blush has won gold at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards in addition to silver and bronze
awards in the New Zealand International Wine Awards and the Liquorland Top 100. It has also featured well at the Hawke’s
Bay A & P Society Wine Awards.
“This wine has an opulent taste of raspberry and cherry that’s balanced by a long refreshing finish,” says Tim Turvey,
co owner and founder of the winery that also boasts a restaurant.
“A constatne favourite with our restaurant diners, the Blush is so versatile, pairing with seafood and salads, also many
chicken or red meat dishes. It’s the essence of spring!” adds fellow owner, Helma van den Berg.
Romeo Bragato 2013 competition chairman of judges Olly Masters said “This year was one of the strongest trophy line-ups
across all categories the judges have ever seen".
The competition had 495 entries with 51 gold medals, 107 silver and 181 bronze medals being awarded.
Clearview’s Reserve Chardonnay received a silver award; its Beachhead Chardonnay, Cape Kidnapper Merlot Malbec, Reserve
Sauvignon Gris and Reserve Semillon all took out bronze awards.
The Trophies were presented at the Bragato Dinner one of the highlights of the Romeo Bragato Conference.
