Two networks combine to empower Kiwi SMEs

From today, The New Zealand SME Business Network and The Icehouse will partner to provide support for SMEs and give them a voice to influence national policies.

This partnership will see the  NZ SME Business Network LinkedIn Group managed by the Icehouse.

The New Zealand SME Business Network, which boasts more than 4,500 members on LinkedIn, was founded by Tenby Powell in 2011.

Tenby Powell says the partnership was a strategic decision based on the benefits The Icehouse can bring to the Network members.

“The Icehouse can offer a new level of expertise, resources and leadership, as well as an extensive network,” he says.

To uphold the strategic direction of the New Zealand SME Business Network, Tenby Powell will assume the role of Director and has also joined the Board of The Icehouse.

The Icehouse CEO, Andy Hamilton says the organisation is thrilled with the opportunity to play a greater advocacy role for New Zealand SMEs.

“We are excited to be a part of this Network enabling a voice for SMEs. We will work alongside them to champion their causes and remove blockages such as regulations which are preventing them from achieving their goals,” he says.

Andy Hamilton says The Icehouse will leverage its wide reaching network to support the needs of the group members.

“We support Tenby’s aspirational vision of enabling SMEs to contribute 45% instead of 38% of New Zealand’s GDP output. We will be dedicating our resources to ensure the members of The New Zealand SME Business Network can share relevant information and connect to achieve their growth goals.”

“We will work hard to grow the group and so it can become an influential and powerful voice in the SME eco-system,” he says.
