Standards New Zealand CE secondment to Capital & Coast DHB
Standards New Zealand Chief Executive, Debbie Chin, is to be released on secondment for six months to act in the capacity of Interim Chief Executive of Capital & Coast District Health Board following the resignation of its Chief Executive Mary Bonner.
Debbie Chin has been the Crown Monitor on the Capital and Coast DHB for four years and has an extensive background in the health sector. She was Deputy Director-General of Health for seven years and at one point the Acting Director-General.
Standards Council Chairman John Lumsden said Standards New Zealand is nearing the end of a long period of review which Debbie has actively and effectively contributed to.
‘This is not something we could have considered a few months ago, but now the review is winding down. Debbie can move into the seconded role confident she has made a significant contribution in determining the strategic direction of New Zealand’s standards and conformance infrastructure.
‘The Standards Council is pleased that it is able to assist the District Health Board at this time. The secondment is for a period of 6 months at the end of which we will have a better idea of the final outcome of the review and our requirements.’
‘The Standards Council has asked Michelle Wessing, General Manager Standards Solutions and Shared Services, to serve as Acting Chief Executive of Standards New Zealand. Miss Wessing has held a number of senior positions at Standards New Zealand and has a solid understanding of both the organisation and the sectors the organisation works with. Her considerable experience and knowledge will enable her to successfully lead the organisation over the next 6 months.’
