Fashion and wine will culminate in a celebratory event this week as Queenstown’s multi-award-winning Amisfield Wine Company releases its much-anticipated 2013 Rosé in Auckland.
The 2013 Rosé will be launched at the New Zealand Fashion Week show of up and coming Dunedin label Company of Strangers.
Due to be attended by around 400 discerning fashion lovers, the 2014 autumn/winter collection launch – to be held in the unique satellite venue of the basement car park of Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour, celebrates two outstanding Otago companies.
Amisfield Winery Company Marketing Manager Debbie Zampieri said it was a great opportunity for Amisfield to support Company of Strangers and the work of designer Sara Aspinall, as well as collaboratively showcase the strength of superb quality product coming from the region.
“Wine is designed to match and complement the finer things in life,” she said.
“Traditionally that has been food, but increasingly we see the opportunity to collaborate with innovative design and style events such as this.
“We’re delighted to be associated with the extremely talented Company of Strangers, and participate in what we’re sure will be an extremely successful launch.”
Ms Zampieri said the release of the 2013 Rosé was “highly anticipated”, as it was harvested from specially selected blocks within the Amisfield estate that had some of the juiciest and “most opulent” Pinot Noir fruit.
A pretty pink, crimson colour described as being reminiscent of the ‘Romeo’ rose bloom, the 2013 vintage has vibrant summer fruit aromatics with a soft, silky and dry palate, a low acid finish and enticing summer fruit flavours.
Designer Sara Aspinall said the wine had been a source of inspiration for the collection.
“We even matched a beautiful rose colour in our Autumn/Winter 2014 collection to celebrate the release of the Amisfield Rosé,” she said.
“Rosé is my absolute favourite wine, so I couldn’t be more delighted to serve it at our show.”
Ms Zampieri said the Rosé was very much Amisfield’s “signature summer drop”.
“Our Rosé is a beautiful food wine, perfectly matched to many of the dishes on offer in the Amisfield Winery & Bistro, recently named New Zealand’s best winery restaurant at the prestigious Cuisine NZ Good Food Awards 2013.
The Dunedin-based Company of Strangers has impressed fashion commentators, who have variously described it as innovative and forward-thinking, effortlessly cool and exciting.
Company of Strangers already has a cult following for its collection of edgy high fashion clothing, re-worked vintage leather bags and jewellery, with designer Sara Aspinall drawing inspiration from, and working with, local artists, musicians and fellow designers.
Company of Strangers is stocked in many of the top fashion boutiques throughout New Zealand and Australia – including Plume, Children of Vision and the flagship Company of Strangers store in Dunedin – as well as offering special one-off pieces through its website.
