Jetstar brings low fares to Auckland – Adelaide route
Jetstar is expanding its trans-Tasman network with a new three times weekly service between Auckland and Adelaide* taking off from 16 December.
Adelaide will be the airline’s fourth trans-Tasman destination. Jetstar currently offers flights across the Tasman to Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast from Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown.
Jetstar Head of New Zealand, Grant Kerr, said the launch delivers the first direct low fares flights between the two cities.
“The customer response to our trans-Tasman flying has been strong over the past few years and we’re delighted to now introduce direct flights between Auckland and Adelaide,” Mr Kerr said.
“We expect that the introduction of low fares on this route will make Adelaide a much more accessible and affordable destination for Auckland travellers.
“The Barossa Valley near Adelaide is one of the world’s most famous wine making regions and the city itself is a culinary capital with top restaurants and food markets. Adelaide’s stunning beaches, arts festivals and access to riverboats on the Murray River are other tourist draw cards.
“We know kiwis love to holiday in Australia and now they can discover or revisit another destination more affordably than in the past.”
Flights on the new route will operate every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from Auckland with the return service from Adelaide later the same day. The flight will be operated by an Airbus A320 in a single class.
To celebrate Jetstar will be offering fares on sale from $99 one-way** today, Tuesday 3 September from 2pm to 4pm (NZST), unless sold out prior. Sale fares are valid for travel between 12 February 2014 and 2 April 2014 and 14 May 2014 to 25 June 2014.
Regular lead-in fares Auckland-Adelaide start from NZD219** one-way online and will be available for sale from this morning on Jetstar.com.
* Flights subject to government and regulatory approval.
** Checked baggage not included. You can choose from 15kg to 40kg checked baggage for an additional $16.50-$45.00 per passenger per fare.
