New Zealand Legal Documents Available Online

New Zealand solicitors are about to face a new internet competitor aimed at slashing fees for routine but essential legal documents.

The service, www.legaldocuments.co.nz , will provide a huge range of legal templates for downloading at a fraction of the usual cost of seeking conventional legal “advice” simply to access basic forms.

Spokesperson for the new service, Essential Agreements Ltd, Rotorua-based solicitor Mrs Helen Nathan, said the site was modelled on similar, successful ones in America.

“A lot of people don’t want to pay for legal advice just to have access to routine legal forms that can be downloaded in a template,” she said.

The site was already attracting hundreds of inquiries before its launch becomes official today.

A typical document download charge is expected to be $10.00 to $150.00.

There would be no charge for not-for-profit documentation.

Mrs Nathan said the documents are prepared by qualified New Zealand lawyers and are available to download in Word format.

“Each document comes with a user guide providing practical tips, clause by clause explanation and suggestions for use.”

“This new and affordable service allows businesses and individuals to create their own legal documents and contracts as and when they need them.”

“It allows users to get a head-start before seeking more targeted legal advice where that is needed.”

“As well as basic business documents, a range of templates for Wills and other commonly used documents are available.”

Mrs Nathan said new documents,  articles and information are added and updated regularly to the fast-growing service.
