Christchurch Airport Appoints New CEO
Christchurch International Airport Ltd has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to replace Jim Boult, who leaves the company at the end of this year. Malcolm Johns will take over as chief executive at the airport at the beginning of next year.
Mr Johns is an experienced businessman, who is currently chief executive of InterCity Group. He is also Deputy Chair of Tourism New Zealand.
InterCity Group operates a large and complex passenger transport network involving land and sea assets. It is involved in delivering tourism and transport products and experiences across New Zealand, and derives its revenues from both domestic and international markets.
Tourism New Zealand is the Government’s independent international marketing business. It plays a key role in developing New Zealand’s international tourism marketing strategies, and assisting market participants with implementation of those strategies.
“We are delighted to have someone of Malcolm’s calibre and experience to take up the role of Chief Executive at Christchurch Airport” says CIAL Chairman David Mackenzie.
“Malcolm will bring with him comprehensive knowledge of international tourism issues, as well as his proven leadership capabilities and business vision developed in the passenger transport sector.”
The airport company completed an extensive search for its new chief executive, with some quality candidates from whom Mr Johns was selected.
“Malcolm will be relocating from Auckland to Christchurch and he and his family are looking forward to becoming part of the Christchurch community,” says Mr Mackenzie.
“We are confident he will add value to our business and help us take the airport to the next level, after the very good work Jim Boult has completed over the past five years.”
