The Speight’s Fund 2013 Applications Now Open
Calling all Otago folk, the Speight’s Fund 2013 is now open to applicants.
With over $43,000 given away last year for environmental and restoration projects The Speight’s Fund is looking for similar initiatives to support this year. Who knows, this could be the financial boost your project needs.
The Speight’s Fund has now extended its geographical pool from Dunedin to Otago, and will now also consider applications for research or educational purposes that relate to the Otago environment.
This year the Speight’s Fund will have over $35,000 to contribute to projects in the Otago community. Speight’s will be donating $25,000 itself with another $10,000 coming from donations collected at the Speight’s Brewery Water Tap and Otago’s ITM Cup season opener.
This year there are a couple of new faces on the judging panel too. Stephen Woodhead, a Sheep and Beef farmer from South Otago and the current Chairman of the Otago Regional Council, and Vanessa Van Uden, the current Mayor of the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
Mr Woodhead says “It’s hugely exciting to be a part of a team that gets to support so many good Otago people doing great things for our community”
“With so many fantastic projects happening throughout Otago it’s going to be really rewarding seeing what people can do with that funding”.
Previous recipients have used the funding to restore streams, control possums and protect New Zealand’s paradise.
The Speight’s Fund has a strong sense of pride in looking after its home region, and wants to support Otago locals who wish to do the same.
So if you’re good folk in Otago doing some pretty special work with the environment, or know someone who is, make sure you get your applications in. For further information and to apply for a Speight’s Fund grant please visit:
