Trophy Two Years Running For Manurewa High School
The coveted 2013 Service IQ Secondary Schools Excellence Award trophy is spending another year on the shelves at Manurewa High School.
Awarded each year to the school with the greatest number of points in the four secondary school classes of the New Zealand Culinary Fare, the trophy recognises the high level of skill of the competing students as well as the expertise of the dedicated teachers who train them.
ServiceIQ Schools Manager Mark Dronjak personally delivered the re-engraved trophy to the low decile South Auckland school and presented it to the students. The school’s Hospitality and Catering Head of Department, Daisy Chandra, said the personal presentation made the students feel very special and made their day.
The New Zealand Culinary Fare is run by the Restaurant Association of New Zealand, with Service IQ sponsoring two of the categories, the Secondary Schools Excellence Award and the Modern Apprentice Chef of the Year. Competition for both is intense, and many of those who have won have gone on to exceptional cooking and hospitality careers.
Manurewa High School took part in the Secondary Schools Culinary and Front of House competition. Scoring impressive results in all four categories, the team members are all deserving winners of the Service IQ Secondary Schools Excellence Award and are living proof of the school’s motto “Piki Atu Ki Te Rangi – Aim High, Strive for Excellence”.
