Temporary Childcare Solutions, Only One Click Away
Our reliance on the internet is no new story with modern day society now dependent on Google, Wikipedia, Trade Me,
Facebook, Twitter etc for recommendations, answers, purchases, and social networking. Mothers rely on the internet for
researching a number of topics related to childcare and parenting and the demand for online solutions is quickly
growing. A poll by parenting website BabyCenter.com found 63 percent of online mothers now use social media networks
such as Facebook regularly, compared to only 11 percent three years ago. It found 44 percent use social media for
recommendations on which brands and products to buy with little difference between mothers of different ages.
Mothers turn to the internet when needing fast answers and solutions and an Auckland based company called KiwiOz
Childcare has developed a unique online booking system for temporary nannies. Director of KiwiOz Nannies Lisa Bentley
states “Our clients are mostly working professionals and 80% of the Mothers we assist are working either full time or
part time. Quite often the support that they need is not permanent or long term but last minute short term bookings and
we quickly realised we needed an easy online solution for these type of women”.
The business has tailored a service that offers an online temporary booking service which allows parents to complete an
online form with their personal details & job requirements and then a consultant contacts them within 4 hours with booking options. “Once a client has used our
temporary nanny service for 2 – 3 bookings they become comfortable with our service and confident that we provide the
same high calibre of nanny for every booking and so the booking process becomes strictly online and via email allowing
our busy clients to solve childcare needs without any fuss or time spent on the phone. The clients receive only one
invoice which includes the nanny’s hourly rate, agency booking fee & GST and can be paid via credit card making the whole process online, fast, and efficient”.
The pace everyone is now working is increasing and with so many multi-tasking mothers back in the workforce having a
quick, reliable one stop shop for temporary childcare has proved very popular. “The amount of repeat bookings coming
through has documented how sought after this service has been here in Auckland” says Bentley.
