Gas Bill Reductions for Majority of Mercury Energy Customers
Changes to gas line charges by lines company Vector, will result in the majority of Mercury Energy’s residential gas customers receiving a decrease in their monthly bill from 1 October 2013.
The impact of Vector’s change on customers’ bills will range from an 11.4% decrease to a 4.3% increase on their total gas bill, as a result of Vector increasing the fixed charges by 15% or $1.20 per month.
The changes mean that around 24,000 of Mercury’s gas customers will see a decrease in their bill, while around 2,000 will see an increase, depending on their annual consumption.
Mercury Energy’s General Manager, James Munro, said the company is passing Vector’s changes directly onto customers immediately as they take effect. This is consistent with the approach the company took with changes in Vector’s electricity lines charges in April of this year.
Vector gas networks include the reticulated gas networks in Northland, Auckland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty.
