Millicent Set to Make New Zealand Fashion Week Debut
Paula Shepherd, the artful mastermind behind the emerging fashion label Millicent, is set to make her debonair debut at New Zealand Fashion Week in two weeks' time.
Millicent was hailed as the stand-out label at Wellington Fashion Week 2013, and now Shepherd has her sights set on making a lasting impression with her AW ’14 - "Blur and Focus” collection.
The self-taught designer's latest collection is guaranteed to captivate the imagination on Thursday 5th September, at the NZFD Designer Showcase at New Zealand Fashion Week.
The stunning AW’14 collection features deep nonchalant shades of winter – teal, grape and moss, and highlights effortless contraposition of forms and fabric.
Paula’s story of progression began while living in Singapore, where she taught herself fashion illustration. Paula returned to Wellington in 2010 and embarked on her career – driven by a desire to create a sophisticated label for women across the country.
The talented designer is admittedly nervous about her debut, but outlines that showing at NZFW has been a goal since the label was in its infancy.
"I attended New Zealand Fashion Week in 2011, and it was so incredibly inspiring to view collections from some of the greatest designers in New Zealand. It really ignited my passion and drive to work towards showing alongside them".
Paula’s recent success is evident by her inclusion in the NZFW line-up and her recent Museum Hotel ‘Excellence in Design’ Award at Wellington Fashion Week.
Pssst, Millicent has a BRAND NEW online store! Check it out here.
