Inland Revenue takes next step in the transformation programme

Inland Revenue is set to begin the procurement process for the design of its transformation, with the launch today of a Market Brief which explains the scale and scope of the programme.

“This is a large and complex programme that will run through a number of stages over a period of years. Inland Revenue will be looking for providers with the appropriate skills, track record and expertise to support us at various stages on the journey,” Commissioner Naomi Ferguson said.

Inland Revenue today released a Transformation Market Brief, which sets out an overview of the transformation programme, an explanation of the organisation’s business context, and a proposed four-stage procurement process starting in October.

“We are excited to begin the next phase of our on-going transformation, and look forward to engaging with people and organisations over the coming months and years as we work towards delivering a service that makes it easier for New Zealanders to pay their taxes on time, receive their entitlements, and reduce the costs of compliance.”

“Importantly, the changes will be wide-reaching, with a firm focus on meeting people’s needs as well as technology.”

Ms Ferguson said Inland Revenue would be seeking input from a range of potential services providers as it continued to make the biggest transformation in its history.

“Given the scale and complexity of this project, we’ll be looking for providers with a proven track record of working with programmes of this nature and magnitude.

“It’s going to take a long time and over several stages, and there will be opportunities for different New Zealand service providers with the right skills and experiences to help us build and deliver our transformation.”

Inland Revenue will host a series of meetings with businesses and organisations in September to discuss the transformation programme in the build up to a formal Expression of Interest process starting on 3 October 2013.
