Miss Clawdy opens her doors, a lil’ Southern goodness.

Nestled in the new ASB Building in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland’s new soul food haven Miss Clawdy has officially opened their doors to the public. Inspired by the late Lloyd Price’s 1952 New Orleans hit single, ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’, Miss Clawdy entices food and drink enthusiasts with their Southern American inspired menu.

Miss Clawdy’s kitchen isn’t shy when it comes to cooking. The flavours are big, playful and have attitude. The menu aims to inspire and be relished anytime of the day. Diners can look forward to Southern classics like fried jerk chicken with chipotle lime mayo, southern fried oyster po’boys and cinnamon beignets with butterscotch sauce as a sweet treat.

An eclectic display of eco-friendly basket lights, hand-made patterns and vibrant colours build a space for diners to step into that visually reflects the act of celebration in the south. Hand painted floors and plants that peek through the cracks in the woodwork draw on the life-giving richness of the old southern Mississippi tropics.

Tom, Jeff and father Dennis Wiley, also known as the Wiley Boys are responsible for Auckland’s new eatery and are also known for establishing other infamous Auckland restaurants including Hammerheads, Sausalito, Mink and Squid Row.
