Young Professionals in Real Estate (YPIRE) launches in NZ
The perception that only the middle-aged are successful in establishing and maintaining a stellar real estate career is being overturned in New Zealand by a new industry group.
YPIRE (Young Professionals in Real Estate) is an industry group with the sole focus of developing the next generation of real estate professionals.
To date, three events have been booked for 2013 according to YPIRE committee member Sarah Pearce.
“The first will be held in Auckland at the Generator this week where Hannah McQueen the Director of Enableme and Brendon Skipper the Head of Trademe Property are featured as guest speakers,” Ms Pearce said.
“YPIRE is unique in that it is open to youth in all real estate brands, residential and commercial, property management and sales, in any role. It is about creating a future platform of excellence.”
With the rapid change in technology and the advent of social media, Sarah Pearce says it is no surprise that more Gen-Ys are becoming leaders in the property field.
After the success already experienced in Australia, the arrival of YPIRE into New Zealand has been widely welcomed. The YPIRE committee is made up of a number of individuals and organisations (Loan Market and The Skills Organization in particular) who have come forward to invest their time, energy and resources.
“YPIRE respectfully acknowledges the current generation of real estate practitioners. They allow youth to leverage off insights and experience that have been hard-earned over time. As Sir Isaac Newton said 'If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants'. YPIRE applauds the giants in the industry,” Ms Pearce said.
The second event is to be held in Christchurch on 31 October and the final event to be hosted on 5 December in Wellington.

The YPIRE mission statement is clear:
• To champion young people by fostering the development of their careers
• To facilitate social interaction and business networking with their peers
• To provide opportunities to access the knowledge and experience of industry leaders
• To create a youth culture of attraction that becomes a platform for organic growth, drawing more youth into the industry.
