Foundation Financial Group Executive Agrees to “Get Locked Up” for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Jacksonville, Florida- Foundation Financial Group will be supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association by participating in the MDA Executive Lock-Up, the nonprofit organization’s premier fundraising program. David Gueterman, FFG’s Chief Operating Officer, has agreed to participate in Jacksonville’s Downtown Executive Lock-Up on September 12 to raise awareness and funding for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s mission.

Gueterman will join the rest of Jacksonville’s business and community leaders who have agreed to be imprisoned in MDA’s maximum appreciation “jail.” The participants will raise bail money to benefit those afflicted with muscle disease. Volunteers pledge to raise a targeted amount for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Executives who come to the event without the amount pledged must spend an hour in jail and try to raise the remainder needed for their release.

To avoid being locked up by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Gueterman must raise $4,000. However, part of his fundraising strategy actually includes being locked up. Gueterman has promised to stay in the MDA jail for an hour if Foundation Financial Group employees donate a minimum of $1,500 in 48 hours. He figures his coworkers will find donating toward his incarceration more exciting than his freedom.

“I’ll gladly become a ‘jailbird’ for a cause that aims to improve so many lives,” said Gueterman, whose family has lost loved ones to muscular diseases. “The MDA Lock-Up event is a great opportunity to contribute to an important cause. I’m honored to join MDA’s fight to win the war against muscle disease. With Foundation Financial and the Jacksonville community coming together, I know we can help researchers find a cure.”

High-profile “Lock-Up” events occur across the country at various times throughout the year. All funds raised by the MDA Lock-Up event will assist the organization in providing lifesaving research, a nationwide network of medical clinics, and accessible summer camp experiences to individuals and families affected by neuromuscular diseases. A donation of $65 will fund one minute of research. Donors can sponsor one physical therapy session for $150 and send a child to spend one week at MDA Summer Camp for $800. Donations to Gueterman’s “bail” can be made through Foundation Financial Group’s charity donations portal.

Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health organization devoted to researching the causes of and effective treatments for neuromuscular diseases. MDA research grants are currently supporting more than 250 Muscular disease projects worldwide. The Association also provides health care, advocacy, and education for those afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy.
