Bring it Back Tip Top!
Ice cream lovers rejoice! Tip Top has announced today that it will bring back one of Kiwis’ favourite ice creams.
Ice cream aficionados are being asked to vote for their favourite from a selection chosen by fans of Tip Top’s Facebook
page.
Tip Top says it gets a constant stream of requests from fans asking for their old favourites to be brought back.
Minna Reinikkala, Tip Top Group Marketing Manager says, “We’ve had requests for everything from kids products like
Popsicle Splash to our tub favourite Dessertalicious but in recent times, the Mint Trumpet, Strawberry Toppa and Fruju
Tropical Snow have been the most requested flavours.
“There’s even a ‘Bring back the Fruju Tropical Snow’ Facebook page set up by a fan, which goes to show just how
seriously Tip Top customers take their treats!”
Of the three, the Strawberry Toppa is the longest standing. Originally launched in the 1950s, it was a staple of many
Kiwi summers until the turn of the century. Mint Trumpet was introduced to the Trumpet range in the 1980s, withdrawn in
2006 and most recently brought back for six months to celebrate Tip Top’s 75th anniversary in 2010. The Fruju Tropical
Snow is the ‘johnny-come-lately’ of the trio, appearing in the freezer as late as 2009.
For those who have been craving the minty fresh taste of a Mint Trumpet, the Strawberry Toppa’s crunchy ice shell, or
the revitalising zing of a Fruju Tropical Snow, all they have to do is vote online at http://www.facebook.com/tiptopicecream
Voting will be open until 8 September 2013, and fans can vote as many times as they like. The winning product will go
into production early next year and will then be available for a limited period in dairies and supermarkets nationwide.
One lucky person, who votes for the winning ice cream, will get to taste the first ice cream straight off the production
line at Tip Top’s factory.
The winning ice-cream will be made without artificial colours and flavours and with natural alternatives, following Tip
Top’s announcement in July to use only natural colours and flavours by January 2014.
