Market Stays Strong
New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s General Manager, Mr John Dawson reports that for today’s market offering of 5,959 bales of South Island wool prices remained firm. The selection comprised mainly Crossbred Fleece and Early Shorn Second Shear.
The limited amount of Mid Micron Fleece was fully firm as were the shorter 2/3 inch Crossbred Shears. The longer 2/4 and 3/4 inch Crossbred types were 2 to 3 percent dearer.
Competition was spread mainly between China, Australasia and the Middle East with support from Western Europe, India and the United Kingdom.
The next sales on 15th August comprise approximately 8,000 bales from the South Island and 10,400 bales from the North Island.
