New information from FONTERRA re its INGREDIENT CONTAMINATION PROMPTS FURTHER PRECAUTIONARY VOLUNTARY RECALL
This issue does not affect any Nutricia products sold in Australia.
Late Monday afternoon, Nutricia received further information from Fonterra about its ingredient contamination which has required us to expand the scope of our precautionary product recall.
Based on this information, Nutricia has decided that in the interest of safety and caution to instigate an additional and full voluntary recall of two products.
(This follows our earlier precautionary voluntary recall of limited batches of two Karicare Products; Karicare Stage 1 New Baby Infant Formula and Karicare Gold+ Stage 2 Follow On Formula. Please note that the extra Fonterra information received by Nutricia means this further precautionary recall is not limited to batches).
None of the products tested and sold in New Zealand indicate any contamination. However, given the extra information supplied by Fonterra late today (Monday 5th August) Nutricia has decided to instigate a further precautionary voluntary recall to cover all batches of these two specific products:
• Karicare Stage 1 New Baby Infant Formula (from birth)
• Karicare Gold+ Stage 2 Follow On Formula (from 6 months)
Consumers should not feed these products to infants.
If you have been using these products to feed your infant and your child shows any sign of illness, please contact your health care professional as a precautionary measure.
The recall is limited to these two products only. It is limited to New Zealand only.
This precautionary recall DOES NOT affect any Nutricia products sold in Australia.
If you have recently purchased any products detailed above, please return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Supporting New Zealand babies and their families is our prime concern. We regard safety as paramount. To that end, in order to provide New Zealand parents and babies the certainty they need - and based on this additional information received today (Mon 5th August) from Fonterra - Nutricia has been left with no choice but to withdraw all batches of these two products from the market.
We are working closely with MPI to ensure the recall is done as fast as possible, with the aim of giving New Zealand parents confidence that all Karicare products on sale in New Zealand are safe to consume.
As with the NZ Government, we are doing everything we can to resolve this issue with Fonterra and to provide as much information and support as possible to New Zealand parents and babies.
Nutricia apologises for any inconvenience or stress caused by this, but the safety of our consumers cannot be compromised.
