Emirates Celebrating First 10 Years In NZ with Special Offer

News Release, 1 August 2013

Emirates Celebrating First 10 Years In New Zealand with Special Offers

Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, is about to celebrate the 10th anniversary of services to New Zealand with special fares and rewards.

“We have had a fantastic decade of growth thanks to the belief of so many New Zealanders in our product and service and we want to acknowledge that support,” said Emirates New Zealand Regional Manager Chris Lethbridge. “So between August 2 and 12, we will be offering 10 per cent off Economy Class fares to 10 popular destinations.”

Like the Emirates network which spans six continents, the destinations range widely – from nearby Sydney to far away Stockholm. The 10 destinations and the relevant return economy class fares are: Sydney $403, Durban $2149, Stockholm $2169, Copenhagen $2179, Venice $2309, Manchester $2379, London $2399, Birmingham, Glasgow $2479 and Newcastle $2489.The fares include all taxes. Various travel periods and other conditions apply.

In addition, Emirates will provide customers who have booked and travelled with 10 chances to win 128,000 Miles with Skywards – Emirates’ award-winning frequent flyer programme – sufficient to entitle them to a return economy class ticket to Europe. Alternatively, the Miles can be used for upgrades, other points on the Emirates network or the Qantas network, or to purchase items from Emirates High Street online shop.

“New Zealand welcomed Emirates from the outset,” continued Mr Lethbridge. “When we started services between Auckland and Dubai via Australia on August 2 in 2003, we had not one, but two inaugural flights – and that enthusiasm received from the New Zealand market has continued in successive years.”

A decade later, Emirates now flies four times daily with three services to and from Auckland and one flight to and from Christchurch, offering nearly 1,000 seats more in each direction each day than it did in 2003.

From October this year, when all three Auckland services will be operated by double-decker A380s, the airline will provide 1,812 seats a day in each direction on New Zealand services.

“Growth to and from New Zealand has been stimulated by extra services, modern, state-of-the-art aircraft, an excellent product and good value,” added Mr Lethbridge. Our business model has helped Emirates be voted the “World’s Best Airline” in the 2013 Skytrax World Airline Awards survey by over 18 million air travellers.”
