Slingshot beats giants in data battle
As part of a competitive campaign to shake up the market, Slingshot has released its second round of highly competitive offers, positioned as New Zealand’s BIG Broadband Plans, which far exceed its competitors’ current plans and bundled offers.
“These are the biggest ever data plans seen from Slingshot, at prices that are sure to rattle those who have long held the Kiwi telco market at ransom,” says Mark Callander, Slingshot CEO. This announcement follows July’s big data plan called the Better Bundle, which offered 40GB for just $69 a month.
The full range of BIG Broadband Plans unveiled today offer more competitive rates than everyone else in the market, featuring significantly higher data allowances as well as data rollover, a homeline, free modem and free Global Mode[i].
“We’re seeing a fantastic response to our $69 Better Bundle plan, proving that we are doing right by our customers by providing New Zealand households with what they want. It also tells us that the competition is charging too much and Kiwis want more appealing bundles and realistic pricing,” says Callander.
Slingshot’s latest BIG Broadband Plans build on the Better Bundle, providing customers with considerable data increases for minimal cost. Five plans are available for customers to select from. For $69 per month customers will receive 40GB on Slingshot’s Big bundle. Customers can choose to double their data from 40GB to 80GB for a further $10 on the Bigger bundle, raising their monthly charge from $69 to $79. For an additional $10 ($89 per month), customers can access 200GB on the Biggest bundle.
For uncapped data, customers have two plans to pick from. Unlimited One[ii] costs $99 per month and is aimed at families that use the internet for web browsing, email and streaming videos. It’s ideal for Kiwis that would like to avoid large bills that are caused by exceeding a data threshold. Unlimited Plus has no limit on the total amount of data that can be uploaded or downloaded at high speed, valued at $109 per month.
“Customer’s internet usage at home is doubling every year as multiple devices are connected and media is becoming richer. ISPs face the challenge of meeting this demand while maintaining affordable prices and that is what we have delivered today.
“As a nation we are big data consumers and we don’t see why Kiwis should be hindered from their online freedom by a few ISPs charging far too much. Our BIG Broadband Plans are part of our policy to shake up the market and fight for fairness,” says Callander.
Continually striving to better the telecommunications service in New Zealand, Slingshot will be announcing equally impressive big data VDSL plans in the coming weeks. These are expected to compete heavily on price and value with other VDSL providers and offer New Zealand consumers more choice.
“We are the only 100% Kiwi owned and operated telecommunications company and we are driven by delivering the best value homeline and broadband services in the country,” concluded Callander.
