WECC and Xero work together on workshops
Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with high-flying accounting software company Xero to offer a series of workshops ranging from building marketing websites to growing business beyond New Zealand.
The workshops were announced by Chamber CEO Raewyn Bleakley at a luncheon in Wellington yesterday where Xero CEO Rod Drury was the guest speaker.
Mr Drury spoke about Xero’s rise from an apartment in Wellington to employing 500 people in four cities around the world and success on the share market, his take on how Wellington was ideally placed to be a test-lab for new digital technology, and how a second international internet cable to the United States remained crucial to bringing the world closer to New Zealand and how the consortium he was part of remained in talks with Treasury over that plan.
Raewyn Bleakley said the members-only workshops in July and August would be a great opportunity to tap into the brains behind a fantastically successful company.
“It’s very generous of Rod and his staff. It’s great for the Chamber to have this close relationship with a company such Xero to bring such innovative ideas to members.”
Details of the workshops are:
• Building a global class marketing website: Exploring how Xero’s marketing website Xero.com has been designed and built to attract one million visitors a month; using search and content marketing practices to bring prospects to the website; optimising the website design to increase conversion of prospects to sales.
• Scaling the business, building a best-in-class product team: The things that worked, and didn’t, as Xero grew and continues to adapt to massive growth.
• Cloud for the Enterprise: Issues and opportunities around the numerous Cloud tools that can be used by teams and departments in each business.
• Global recruitment and opening offices around the world: Planning and challenges in anticipating headcount, recruiting offshore, on-boarding, and maintaining the company culture, as well as finding flexible and cost-effective accommodation that supports a business’s culture.
