Yealands Wine Group secures 21 medals at the Spiegelau International Wine Awards
Yealands Wine Group has built upon recent success with another impressive result at the Spiegelau International Wine Competition. 21 medals were awarded to the group across the Yealands Estate, Peter Yealands, Crossroads and The Crossings ranges.
The medal haul includes two gold and eight silver medals. Peter Yealands, Founder of Yealands Wine Group, says the awards are a testament to the hard work from across the Yealands Wine Group.
“Our main aim is to create high quality wines that everyone can enjoy. Winning 21 medals across various ranges and varietals, not only shows the strength of our group but also the progress we’re making towards achieving our goals. I am extremely proud of the vineyard and winemaking teams at Yealands Estate and Crossroads for their gold medal wins, but also appreciate the hard work across the entire group to produce consistently strong wines,” says Yealands.
Gold medals were awarded to the Yealands Estate Single Block Series S1 Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and Crossroads Milestone Series Merlot 2012. It is the third gold medal awarded to the Yealands Estate Single Block Series S1 Sauvignon Blanc 2012 this year, having previously received gold at the International Wine Challenge 2013 and the 2013 Royal Easter Show.
The Spiegelau International Wine Competition is judged by a panel of highly regarded and experienced national and international judges, headed by Chief Judge, Mike DeGaris. The panel tasted almost 1,200 as part of the judging process, further validating the success of Yealands Wine Group. The competition is also one of the country’s most prestigious awards as it is 100% independently owned and run.
Trophy winners will be announced at a ceremony in Auckland on 9 August.
