New Zealand Post Restructure
The loss of 163 jobs at NZ Post’s Wellington processing centre will be a blow to both the families involved and to the local economy, says Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce CEO Raewyn Bleakley.
“After the good news earlier this year of four big companies either setting up shop here or expanding, this is something we didn’t need. It’s a backward step for our economy.
“It’s also a reminder that there is a lot of work to do to attract new companies to the city. We must continue to work hard to make Wellington further business friendly so we can attract new companies.
“If there’s one good thing in this it is that it won’t take effect until next year and a lot can happen between now and then.”
