NZ On Air supports NZ On
Screen, AudioCulture and theaudience
NZ On Air is pleased to announce funding to continue support of three popular and innovative websites. All three are key elements of the funding agency’s digital strategy.
Since NZ On Screen’s launch in 2008, more than two million people have gone online to watch the stories of New Zealand television, film and music videos, both classic and quirky. The site has more than 2400 titles, more than 870 profiles, 48 collections and more than 220 Screen Talk interviews.
NZ On Screen is run by the Digital Media Trust, which also launched AudioCulture at the end of May 2013.
AudioCulture is New Zealand’s noisy music library covering every genre from early recordings to internationally renowned New Zealand artists of today. AudioCulture collects priceless stories about our popular music history from the people who were there. It plays the music, describes the times and is also a place where artists and fans can connect.
theaudience is a platform to help new artists to share their music and music lovers to discover new New Zealand music. Each month one song goes forward for NZ On Air Making Tracks music funding. In its first year theaudience had 1.6 million page views with 1500 artists uploading 2,500 tracks. The site is run by Amplifier Holdings.
“It’s fantastic to see so many
people using and enjoying the content and collections on
these three sites” says NZ On Air Chief Executive Jane
Wrightson. “All are well-supported by clever social media
strategies. Combined they provide an entertaining spotlight
on important popular culture, encouraging discovery of local
content both classic and new.”
