Rex Davy Real Estate Becomes Part of Barfoot & Thompson
Long established West Auckland real estate firm, Rex Davy Real Estate, is to join forces with Barfoot & Thompson and from July 1 will operate under the Barfoot & Thompson brand.
The 14-strong firm has been owned by the Davy family for the past 30 years, and along with Barfoot & Thompson is the number one agency in Glendene and Te Atatu South.
The decision to merge Rex Davy Real Estate into Auckland’s leading real estate agency was made by the Davy family following a strategic review as to its future as well-known local identity, Rex Davy, and son, John, looked at a succession plan.
“As family owned and operated businesses, Rex Davy and Barfoot & Thompson have similar cultures and views as to how best service the needs of our clients,” said John Davy.
“As Auckland grows, west Auckland is attracting greater buyer interest, and Barfoot & Thompson’s 65 strong branch network and state of the art listing systems will put our clients’ properties in front of a far greater number of potential buyers.
“Coupled with the training, marketing expertise and standing of the Barfoot & Thompson brand, this merger represents a great opportunity for us to grow our local business significantly.”
John Davy will become Manager of the Glendene branch of Barfoot & Thompson and Rex will assist in the integration of the two companies.
“With the merger, Barfoot & Thompson will strengthen our presence in Glendene and Te Atatu South, which are being increasingly recognised as an up-and-coming suburbs,” said Peter Thompson, Managing Director of Barfoot & Thompson.
“Rex Davy Real Estate has a strong local presence and excellent reputation. With many people seeing their future out west we see great growth potential in the area for our brand.”
Rex Davy has a high profile throughout Auckland, but particularly in the west. He is a life member of the Auckland Rugby Union, a former manager of the Auckland and Blues rugby teams, Life Member and former President of the Waitakere City Rugby Club and trustee of The Trusts Arena.
