Wellington Region’s Business Diversity Celebrated at Gold Awards

The Wellington Gold Awards were a celebration of the wide range of business activity across the entire region according to chambers of commerce in the Wellington region.

“The awards certainly showed that business in Wellington is alive and well. They also demonstrated the diverse nature of the Wellington economy with the full range of sectors from Food and Beverage and manufacturing to IT and tourism represented as well as the geographical spread of the winners,” said the Wellington, Porirua and Wairarapa chambers of commerce

“It is highly significant that businesses from right across the region were represented and won Awards last night and that the Supreme Award winner was a Wairarapa-based business. This is especially so in light of the debate around local government amalgamation currently occurring.

“The Wellington, Porirua and Wairarapa chambers are all supportive of amalgamation.

“The debate around amalgamation of local government in Wellington should be informed by this regional diversity and also by the fact that many of the businesses operate and are connected across the region.

“The Wellington Gold Awards were a celebration of business in the region and are a further indication of Wellington’s business vibrancy and we congratulate all of the Winners,” they concluded.
