St Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin, Red Square – rugby sevens? That’s right, for the first time the Rugby World Cup of Sevens will be held in Moscow, Russia, and SKY Sport and the Rugby Channel has LIVE and exclusive coverage of this exciting event.
“It’s amazing how sevens rugby continues to grow around the world and I’m delighted fans in New Zealand will be able to watch Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013 live from such an historic and colourful city such as Moscow,” said Richard Last, SKY’S Director of Sport.
New Zealand Rugby Chief Executive Steve Tew agrees and said Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013 in Moscow would be a special event.
“This season has been excellent preparation for the World Cup which is a really important event so we are hugely excited about seeing both men’s and women’s teams in action in what will be a fascinating part of the world to play rugby.”
SKY’s comprehensive coverage of the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013 will include every All Blacks Sevens match, as well as coverage of all New Zealand Women’s Sevens games.
Sevens rugby has never been played in the Russian capital before and the All Blacks Sevens will go into Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013 in strong form after winning their 11th IRB Sevens World Series this year. Also, the New Zealand Women’s team won the inaugural IRB Sevens World Series this year in the Netherlands.
SKY Sport has LIVE coverage of Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013, including All Blacks Sevens matches, New Zealand Women’s Sevens games, as well as all quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final on SKY Sport 1 and the Rugby Channel from Friday, 28 June.
