Gibbston Valley Winery appoints new sales co-ordinator to expand conference and events market

Award-winning Gibbston Valley Winery in Queenstown has appointed experienced tourism professional Brenda Meadows as sales and events co-ordinator to manage and expand the company’s conference and events offering.

Ms Meadows has an extensive background in hospitality and tourism bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in the event planning and conference arenas.

She has worked at a number of prestigious companies during her career including several aviation businesses, Mills Reef Winery, Puka Park Resort, as well as Spinnakers Restaurant and Charlemagne Lodge in Tauranga.

Gibbston Valley Winery CEO Greg Hunt said he was “delighted” to welcome Ms Meadows to the sales and marketing team.

“Brenda is a consummate professional with a varied background in tourism and hospitality, a great mix that perfectly complements everything we do here,” Mr Hunt said.

“She’ll be tasked with maximising all the opportunities available across all Gibbston Valley Winery’s venue options including our new experiences.”

In the last 12 months, Gibbston Valley Winery has expanded its business to incorporate new and unique options for conference, events and incentive groups looking to come to Queenstown.

Only last month, the company launched Rabbit Ridge, a 30km bike resort adjacent to the winery which offers year-round biking for riders of all levels.

“We very much see this forming part of our conference, incentive and events business,” Mr Hunt said.

“It would be the perfect team-building or ‘Amazing Race’ activity for a group, followed by lunch, dinner or tastings at the winery. The possibilities are endless.”

The Barrel Hall, which opened in 2012, is the winery’s dedicated venue available for private evening functions including cocktail functions for up to 450 guests and gala dinners for up to 300 guests.

“Lined with wine barrels and double entry doors opening to overlook the vineyard itself, the Barrel Hall is the perfect venue for groups of over 100 guests and can be themed to each client’s request,” Ms Meadows said.

“Our restaurant features both courtyard and indoor dining and there’s strong emphasis on local produce and ingredients, with the inherent belief that good food should be enjoyed with good wine.

“The stylish and relaxed restaurant suits individuals and groups,” she said.

The Gibbston Valley Wine Cave is a unique and intimate place for team building events, including private tours, as well as wine and cheese, and wine and chocolate tasting experiences to “delight the senses”.

Located in the Central Otago countryside, and surrounded by the first vines planted in the area, Gibbston Valley is a memorable venue for any group event.

A world-class culinary team can design the ideal menu for any occasion, perfectly matched with award winning wines, while the dedicated events team will arrange the details and necessary accompaniments from decorations, AV and guest speakers, to suitable entertainment.

Gibbston Valley Winery is just 15 minutes from Queenstown International Airport and 25 minutes from central Queenstown. Easily accessible by car and coach, there is also a helicopter landing-site available, so guests can easily be transported to and from this idyllic venue, capturing breath-taking views en route.

“It’s great to have such an amazing variety of quality venue and activity options to work with,” Ms Meadows said.

“I’m excited about educating people on what Gibbston Valley Winery has to offer the C&I market. We have such a unique proposition, located in a beautiful setting, so it’s a privilege to be involved.”
